WERS Turns 75 On 6/17

• Emerson College’s WERS 88.9/Boston invites local music fans to celebrate WERS 617 Day and the station’s 75th Birthday on June 17, with free, live, local music on Boston City Hall Plaza, supported by The Mayor’s Office of Arts and Culture.

Live music takes place from 3-9pm on Monday, June 17, featuring a diverse cast of Boston-based artists, including Superpink, Miranda Rae (Cambridge native and Boston Music Awards 2020 R&B Artist of the Year,) members of the Folk Collective at Passim (Kim Moberg, Maxfiled Anderson, Lydia Harell, Cliff Notez, and Noami Westwater) Chris Walton, and Carissa Johnson & The Cure-Alls.

“In our fifth year highlighting WERS 617 Day, we’re excited to go big!” said WERS GM Howard Simpson. “This collaboration with the Mayor’s Office of Arts and Culture will bring our celebration of the vibrant and diverse Boston music scene to the center of the city. It’s our biggest venue yet, and so fitting as we celebrate WERS’ 75 Years of music discovery in 2024.”

Listeners can join the fun and tune in any time during the day on June 17 on 88.9 FM and wers.org, which will feature all local music, including established legends, up-and-coming artists, and greetings from Boston artists past and present.
