White Circles Back To KKOB/Albuquerque
• Cumulus Albuquerque announces the return of Darren White to legendary News-Talk KKOB (News Radio 96.3/770AM) — this time as Program Director. He succeeds Jared Hart, who left in June. White, who will also take on PD duties for Sports-Talk sister KNML (610AM/95.9FM The Sports Animal), famously did middays and weekends on KKOB from 2019-2021.
Jeff Berry, VP/Market Manager of Cumulus Albuquerque, said, “I am SO excited for Darren’s return to Cumulus Albuquerque as Program Director. His passion for radio and vision for the future are contagious. We are fortunate to have someone with his background re-join our industry in a leadership position. Welcome home, Darren!”
In addition to his radio background, White brings deep public service experience, locally and statewide, through his previous positions as Public Safety Director for the Albuquerque Police and Fire Departments, Sheriff of Bernalillo County, Head of Public Safety for the State of New Mexico under Governor Gary Johnson, and New Mexico Chairman for George W. Bush‘s 2004 re-election campaign. White has also been a local business owner and served in the U.S. Army’s 82nd Airborne Division.
“I am honored to accept the position of Program Director for News Radio KKOB and KNML the Sports Animal, and I am humbled by the confidence Cumulus Media has placed in me for this exciting new challenge,” White said. “Having been a part of Cumulus for over a decade, I have seen firsthand the incredible dedication and talent of the teams at both stations. With a proven history of delivering provocative, engaging, and informative radio that is second to none, I look forward to building on that legacy by attracting new listeners and continuing to bring dynamic programming to our loyal radio family.”
