Whole New Vibe In Norfolk
• UPDATED: Yes, the word is already out, the station is stunting, the new logo is posted and website ready to go, as Max Media Hampton Roads is making final preparations to formally flip 13-year-old Top 40 WVHT (Hot 100)/Norfolk to 100.5 The Vibe sometime on Monday.
WVHT is currently playing Q-Tip‘s “Vivrant Thing” on an endless loop, interspersed with sweepers promoting the station’s new identity as “100.5, Hampton Roads’ Vibe.”
Not to be outdone in the show-prep department, Audacy Hot AC WPTE (94.9 The Point) is already airing sweepers over song intros every quarter hour welcoming new listeners from the now former Hot 100, which we understand shared the most audience with The Point.
• Now, the the flip side: with a new format comes the inevitable changing of the guard, as it were, as PD Paul McCoy has exited, along with afternoon drive talent Alex Waters. McCoy remarked, “We had an incredibly fun 13-year run at Hot 100! So many great memories and relationships made over the years! The change is unfortunate but I’m also a realist. It’s just business. I wish nothing but the best for Max Media. And to my label friends: you’re going to be down in spins this week. LOL.” Moving forward, McCoy can be reached at impaulmccoy@gmail.com and 757-615-3379.
• Alex Waters commented, “It was a pleasure and privilege to entertain The 757 on Hot 100. I’m so incredibly proud of the work that McCoy & I did together, on-air, online, and in the streets. Now, I’m looking forward to crushing it with new challenges and adventures!” Waters can be reached at 617-987 5313 or WatersOnAir@outlook.com. In the meantime, he and his pal Calista Liew continue to host The Gluten-Free Radio Show weeknights from 7-midnight on Bahakel Top 40 WDOD (Hits 96)/Chattanooga, TN.
