Wolf Country To Replace FM 100/Memphis

• Yesterday we reported that, despite Audacy’s impending sale of Country WLFP (94.1 The Wolf)/Memphis to EMF, management announced it was committed to keeping the Country format on in the market, on a stronger signal — today, that move became a reality, as Audacy SVP/Market Manager Dan Barron announced that the Wolf’s programming and staff will be migrating up to the 300,000-watt blowtorch of a signal at 99.7 belonging to Hot AC sister WMC-FM (FM 100), thus, “sunsetting” that station’s longtime format, when the EMF deal closes, sometime within 90 days.

Barron’s memo reads, in part, “While this is a very tough decision, going forward we are in the best position to serve our listeners and advertisers with the operation of three dominant, distinct brands: No. 1 AC (WRVR), No. 1 Sports (WMFS) and No. 1 Country (WLFP).”

The current WLFP jock line-up will remain in place, and the station’s vacant midday shift will be filled by Erin Austin, who will cross the hall from mornings on FM 100. Ms. Austin is well acquainted with the Country lifestyle, having previously spent 12 years with sister KILT-FM (100.3 The Bull)/Houston before moving to Memphis two years ago.

Here is the revised Wolf on-air line-up — 6-10am: Mo & Styckman; 10am-1pm: Erin Austin; 1-3pm: Katie Neal; 3-7pm: Duane Shannon & Abby Summers; 7-midnight: Rob & Holly.
