WZPL/Indianapolis Braces For Crash
• Cumulus Top 40 WZPL/Indianapolis has locked down Ryan “Crash” Swiger as its new MD and afternoon drive jock, with a start date of Thursday, Sept. 1.
The new gig marks a homecoming for Indiana native Swiger, who returns to Indianapolis after a five-year stint with Coast Radio Group in Biloxi-Gulfport, MS as PD/afternoon talent at WZNF (95.3 The Gorilla). “Crash rose above several qualified and talented candidates,” said WZPL PD Jimmy Steele. “He’s seasoned, battle-tested, and brings the skills both as a music director and PM drive air talent. We can’t wait to welcome Crash to ‘ZPL and our Cumulus Indianapolis team!”
Already familiar with the Indianapolis market, Swiger previously did nights and afternoons at now former Radio One Top 40 WNOW (100.9 RadioNOW). Earlier career stops include Beasley Top 40 WNKS/Charlotte, NC, WMGI/Terre Haute, IN, and he also did a stint as PD of the campus radio station of his alma mater — Vincennes University’s Hot AC WVUB (Blazer 91.1)/Vincennes, IN
Swiger commented, “I was fortunate to get to hone my skills at WZNF in Gulfport for the past five and a half years. I worked alongside a great staff and learned a lot. I’m looking forward to the next chapter in my career, and excited to be a part of the team at WZPL in Indianapolis. Thanks to Jimmy Steele, Chuck Fredrick and all involved at Cumulus for providing me with this opportunity to develop my skills in the industry and learn from the terrific team at Cumulus!”
