Zito Knows The Way To Tampa Bay
• Third time’s the charm for Jeff Zito, PD/midday delight on Beasley Active Rock WRXK (96 Rock)/Fort Myers, FL, who has been called back up to Tampa Bay as the newly named APD/afternoon personality on Classic Rock sister WPBB (98.7 The Shark).
In his new role, Zito will be responsible for assisting PD Ted Kamikaze with the day-to-day operations of The Shark, which launched on December 26 as “Tampa Bay’s Next Generation of Classic Rock.” Kamikaze said, “Jeff brings a wealth of Rock radio knowledge. Having him join Operations Manager Travis Daily and myself completes my programming dream team for the station!”
The move marks a return to those same hallowed Tampa Bay hallways for Zito, who was originally named PD of the station back in June 2016 under its previous incarnation as WBRN (No Rules Rock). Interestingly, Zito initially worked there back in the day when the frequency was CBS Radio Sports-Talk WHFS.
“Jeff is a great rock programmer, a creative powerhouse, and an all-around fun guy,” said Steve Triplett, Market Manager of Beasley Tampa Bay. “I loved working with him during his last tour of duty in Tampa and am thrilled to have him back!”
Zito remarked, “I’m excited to join my mentor, Ted Kamikaze, back in Tampa at 98.7 The Shark. I want to thank [EVP of Programming] Justin Chase, Travis Daily, Steve Triplett and the Beasley family for allowing me this incredible opportunity to grow within the company I’ve had the privilege to work for over the past 20 years. I can’t wait to get started, but, will miss my radio family in Fort Myers.”
