Zolak & Bertrand… & McKone
• Beasley Sports-Talk WBZ-FM (98.5 The Sports Hub)/Boston promotes from within and taps Tim McKone as the new Headline Anchor & Co-host/third mic on the Zolak & Bertrand midday show, alongside Marc Bertrandand former Patriots quarterback Scott Zolak, effective immediately.
McKone succeeds Rob “Hardy” Poole, who moved up to mornings in January as Fred Toucher‘s co-host, replacing Rich Shertenlieb.
McKone has been a part-time on-air personality at the Sports Hub since 2013. In addition to co-hosting and providing headlines on all weekday and weekend shows across the station, he has served as studio host for the Celtics and Bruins radio broadcasts. He previously worked as a sports reporter/anchor for NBC 10 in Rhode Island, and most recently, was a sports producer for Spectrum News 1.
According to the Boston Herald, the official announcement was made during Monday’s Zolak & Bertrand show. “After much deliberation and an extensive interview process and after many months, we have decided that we are going to let Tim McKone hang out here every single day with us going forward,” said Bertrand. McKone said he was “fired up” to get this full-time role, as he said, “I’ve been filling in with you guys for a long time obviously for like 10 years now, so this is my favorite show, top three favorite shows to work on,” leading to laughs from his new co-hosts. “I appreciate it. I’m looking forward to it. It’s exciting.”
