Lennartz Upped To Mornings On WXRT
• Audacy Triple A WXRT (93XRT)/Chicago keeps it firmly in the family and announced that Marty Lennartz will transition from afternoon drive to host the 93XRT morning show, beginning June 13. Lennartz will succeed Richard Milne, who recently announced he is stepping away to care for his ailing wife. That same day, as was recently announced, 93XRT welcomes format veteran Annalisa to afternoon drive.
“Marty has exemplified excellence at every move during his 40-plus-year career at WXRT,” said Laura Duncan, Brand Manager of 93XRT. “Chicago will start the day with a friend they’ve known for years.”
Lennartz, a Chicago native, first joined 93XRT in 1981 as a producer for Terri Hemmert‘s morning show. In 1986, he was named the station’s full-time overnight host. In the mid-2000’s, Lennartz was named Creative Assistant to Programming, which came with a wide range of responsibilities, from music programming to writing to production. He also helped establish 93XRT’s Live from Studio X series, hosting nearly 100 performance and interview sessions with some of music’s biggest artists. After introducing 93XRT listeners to new artists as host of The Big Beat for 14 years, Lennartz came back to the air full-time as afternoon host.
“I couldn’t be more excited about doing mornings on XRT and follow in the footsteps of three of my best friends, Terri Hemmert, Lin Brehmer and Richard Milne,” said Lennartz. “I started my career getting up early to produce Terri Hemmert’s morning show after being her student at Columbia College, and now all these years later I get to host.”
