Buffalo Forecast: Chille Again
• Radio One Buffalo Full Service WECK (AM 1230 & FM 102.9)/Buffalo, NY continues its tradition of hiring market legends with the acquisition of Buffalo broadcasting icon Joe Chille to do afternoon drive, starting Jan. 22.
Chille famously did mornings for over 30 years on Townsquare AC WJYE (now WMSX) and served as Operations Manager for WJYE and sister stations WBLK, WBUF (92.9 Jack FM) and WYRK until August 2012. His resume also includes on-air work at WYSL AM-/FM and WGRQ. Chille got his start in radio at WJJL in his hometown of Niagara Falls.
“Buffalo’s Very Own WECK, is growing as the live & local, hometown radio station,” said Buddy Shula, Owner & President of Radio One Buffalo, LLC. “We’re pleased to add Joe Chille to our lineup of Buffalo’s best-known and loved broadcasters.” Chille remarked, “Radio has been my love since I was a kid. It’s something that stays in your blood — and I’m really excited to get back on the air at WECK.”
WECK began adding live and local personalities last year after the station was purchased by Shula. In addition to Chille, WECK features local favorites Tom Donahue, Gail Ann Huber and newsman John Zach in morning drive; Jon Summers and Harv Moore in middays; Danny Neaverth on Friday afternoons; Moon Rivers in the evening, and Glenn Topolski and Mike Jacobs on the weekend.
