Dalessandro Trading Milwaukee For Phoenix
• After devoting a large swath of her radio career to the fine city of Milwaukee, Karen Dalessandro is packing for the warmer climate of Arizona — she’s been hired by Hubbard Radio to do afternoon drive on Classic Rock 100.7 KSLX/Phoenix, starting Monday, April 5.
Dalessandro has been doing afternoons at Saga Classic Rock WKLH (Hometown Rock 96.5)/Milwaukee for the past year. Before that she was MD/afternoon talent across the street on former Scripps’ Country WKTI until November 2018, when new owner Good Karma Brands flipped it to Sports-Talk. Dalessandro, a member of the Country Radio Hall of Fame is probably best known for her 19-year run on iHeartMedia Country WMIL/Milwaukee as co-host of the Karen, Scott & Radar morning show. In the mid-’90s she worked at WWWW (W4) and WYCD/Detroit.
Hubbard Radio Phoenix VP/Market Manager Trip Reeb commented, “A great radio station deserves a great air talent. We are fortunate to have found Karen and I’m excited to have her join us at KSLX.” KSLX OM/Brand Content Director David Moore said, “Karen possesses all the skills a contemporary air talent needs to succeed. Beyond being a great on the radio, she creates compelling video content, understands how to effectively execute on social media and is a pleasure to have on the team. We are incredibly lucky to bookend Mark and NeanderPaul in the Morning with Karen Dalessandro in the afternoon.”
For her part, Dalessandro remarked, “I’m beyond blessed to have this amazing radio career and can’t believe I’m adding KSLX call letters to my resume. Seriously… I’m about to start a job working for David Moore and the legendary Trip Reeb in one of the most beautiful cities on the planet! Special thanks to Ed Christian and Bob Bellini for the opportunity to make WKLH my home these last years. Milwaukee will always have a special place in my heart.”
KSLX part-time talent Heather Moore has been filling in on afternoons since Pete Cummings left late last year. She will now transition to host the After-Alice Show overnights following Alice Cooper.
