Jon Ballard Wakes Up In Reno
• Lotus Radio Corp. Reno welcomes company vet Jon Ballard aboard to do mornings on Classic Rock KOZZ. He succeeds Tina Smash, who recently relocated to New Bern, NC for family reasons.
Ballard most recently spent six years as PD of Lotus Active Rock sister KKBZ (105.1 The Blaze)/Fresno until April of this year. He notably spent 12 years with Clear Channel Washington, DC — the first eight in afternoons at WWDC (DC101) before sliding over to mornings on WBIG (BIG 100.3). His other career stops include KZZP/Phoenix and KISW in his hometown of Seattle.
KOZZ OM/PD Jave Patterson said, “Jon Ballard’s unconventional on-air delivery, his ability to distill creative topical content into intriguing breaks with his warped sense of humor, along with his prior programming and management acumen will be a welcome addition to our veteran staff of professionals. Jon should fit well into our existing culture within the building. We are excited to bring him aboard!” Ballard commented, “Thanks to everyone at Lotus Reno for this opportunity! Great leadership, heritage calls and a big signal… I’m beyond honored to join the team.”
Ballard will be in the building on July 29 and will start seriously waking up Reno on August 5.
