Maney & LauRen, Minus Roy
• After a seven-year run as the “R” portion of the Maney, Roy & LauRen (MRL) Morning Show on Beasley Top 40 WNKS (Kiss 95.1)/Charlotte, Roy Brown announced his impending departure from the station later this summer as he will be relocating to Cincinnati, where his partner Sterling has accepted a new job.
Brown (left, with Maney and LauRen) made the announcement on air at 7am Wednesday during a “Family Meeting,” and on his Instagram page, and RAMP later confirmed the news with Kiss PD Cameron Moore. Listen to the entire Family Meeting here.
Brown, a native of Salem, VA, joined the Kiss 95.1 morning show (alongside fellow new recruit LauRen Merola and five-year Kiss veteran Steve Maney) in February 2015, after a five-year run with Mel Wheeler, Inc. in Roanoke, VA, where he worked for Top 40 WXLK (K92) and Country WSLC. Interestingly, at the time we originally announced the news of Brown’s hire, it was noted that 1) He had never been on an airplane, 2) Had never been to a NASCAR race and 3) Had never been in a building taller than five stories.
So far, management has not publicly addressed whether or not they plan to replace Brown, but we fully expect the existing morning structure of Maney, LauRen and Producer Nicole Weaver to remain in place.
