Medek Alert For Wilkes-Barre Area
• A momentous new radio pairing begins today at 7:10am at Audacy Country WGGY (Froggy 101)/Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, PA, as market legend Ken “Doc” Medek welcomes his new morning co-host — none other than his son, Sean “Chewy” Medek, who will plug in across the console from his Dad. In a staff memo announcing this special new morning show addition, Market Manager Ryan Flynn noted, “To the best of my knowledge, we will have the only live, local, father-son morning show in the country.”
Fortunately, the younger Medek won’t have to update his license plates or anything too drastic — he was most recently PD/afternoon personality at Seven Mountains Top 40 simulcast WPQP/WQQP (Pop! 93.1/95.9)/DuBois, PA, some 180 miles to the west. However, Chewy’s voice is already familiar in the Wilkes Barre-Scranton area, as he’s been doing weekends at Froggy’s Top 40 sibling WKRZ for the past few years. Chewy earlier did afternoons at Seven Mountains Media Top 40 WBHV (B94.5)/State College, PA.
Flynn’s memo continued, “Chewy has proven to be an outstanding personality and an exceptional team player in his part-time role with our company and I can’t wait to see how he will develop in his new full-time role. Adding a father-son dimension to our line-up speaks directly to our family-focused audience targets on Froggy, and this move gives us an endless stream of unique, multi-generational, content to develop.”
The co-pilot seat on The Doc Show been up for grabs since the June departure of Medek’s former co-host Jessie Roberts.
