Lakefield’s elevation comes on the heels of last week’s announcement that current WVBO morning guy Dan “Skip” Willis is retiring this month after more than 45 years in radio. Willis’ final show is Friday, March 17, before he heads to Florida for his new gig as fulltime grandpa. “So many great memories, so many wonderful people — I will miss it all!” said Willis. “Now it’s time to say so long to the headphones and mic and move on to a whole new chapter in my life.” Lakefield remarked, “Skip has been a great friend for a long time, and he deserves a fun, relaxing retirement with his family in Florida. I’ll miss working down the hall from him in the morning, cleaning up his computer messes, and sharing my show prep when his Radio Shack TRS-80 crashes! Best of luck, my friend.”
“Kaytie will be a great addition to Razor’s lineup and the culture at Woodward Radio Group,” said Ryan “Elwood” Bjorn, Brand Manager of WAPL and WZOR. “She’s incredibly passionate about connecting with the audience and making a positive impact in the community.” Kaytie starts at the end of the month and will join a lineup that includes Cutter, Pete Burns, BallZach, the syndicated Free Beer and Hot Wings morning show and the syndicated HardDriveXL with Lou Brutus at night. Kaytie remarked, “I am beyond excited to work with Elwood, Cutter and the Razor team and can’t wait to see what we do together.”
