Pros In Motion
• CBS Radio Country WDSY (Y108)/Pittsburgh has parted company with its 15-month-old morning show Ally & Andy, as Ally Butler and Andy Davis depart. The show was created in February 2016, melding the talents of Ally Butler, a ten-year cluster vet who was promoted from the Y108 midday show, and producer/sidekick Andy Davis, who was described at the time as “the leader of The Andy Davis Band, a pro-am snowboarder, and sponsored hunter.”
Naturally, we inquired as to the future of the now vacant Y108 morning shift and received this statement from the station, which read, “Ally and Andy are no longer with the radio station. We will be launching a new morning show on Y108, and we’re excited to share details soon.”
• It’s moving day for Aimee Montgomery at Beasley Media Las Vegas, as she unplugs as co-host/local on-air liaison/producer for the syndicated Brooke and Jubal morning show on Hot AC KVGS (Star 107.9) and rolls her air chair across the hall to take over middays on three-week-old AC sister Lite 101.5 FM, starting July 5.
“We have witnessed Aimee’s great attitude, effort, and dedication,” said OM John Candelaria. “We look forward to her applying these same skills across the hall on Lite FM.” Montgomery commented, “I’m so excited and grateful for this opportunity to have my voice heard on Lite 101.5, and to be able to stay here with my Beasley family is just the icing on the cake. I’ve learned so much in the past two years at Star. It’s an honor to know that GM Tom Humm and OM John Candelaria have all the confidence in me, as I take my crazy radio journey to… the next level™. Radio has already opened up so many doors for me and I’m excited for what the future has in store at Lite. Cheers to the next chapter.”
• Leighton Broadcasting’s KZPK (Wild Country 99)/St. Cloud, MN has hired Kelly Jordan as its new afternoon personality/Imaging Director. The move marks a homecoming for Jordan, who was born and raised in Minneapolis and spent the past 16 years in Austin radio. It’s also a long overdue reunion for Jordan and Wild Country PD Kris Valentine, who worked together at Top 40 sister KCLD/St. Cloud in the early 2000s. “Kelly is the exact talent we’ve been searching for,” said Valentine. “His passion, energy, experience and attitude make him the perfect fit to complete the Wild Country 99 lineup!”
Kelly remarked, “I’ve been wanting to come back home to Minnesota for a long time. Getting to work again with Kris and a great local, community-minded company in Leighton Broadcasting is incredibly energizing! When the opportunity arose I knew it was the perfect fit. Plus, 16 years in Texas has put Country music at the top of my list. I can’t wait to get started!”
