• Univision Communications Inc. has wisely locked down the services of social media sensations Alejandro Gonzalez and Maikel Rodriguez, better known as “Los Pichy Boys” to host a new morning drive radio show on Spanish Tropical WRTO (Mix 98.3)/Miami, starting Monday, February 27. Los Pichy Boys will be bringing their trademark humor, spoofs and pranks that have made them a worldwide sensation to radio listeners in South Florida every weekday morning from 6-10am.
Los Pichy Boys got their start in 2007 on YouTube, their clips becoming instant classics. Their company, El Pichy Films Inc., was born soon after. Today, the guys have a huge worldwide following — their videos have over 100 million views on YouTube, and they have over 700,00 Facebook fans and over 100,000 adoring fans on Instagram. “We are thrilled with the addition of Los Pichy Boys — Alejandro and Maikel — to Mix 98.3 FM,” said Claudia Puig, SVP/GM of Univision Miami. “By pairing the best of music with two of the best comedic stars, our listeners will experience a morning drive like never before.”
• Cumulus Top 40 WWWQ (Q100)/Atlanta has filled its 7-midnight vacancy with the hire of Ashley Elzinga, a.k.a. Ashley Z, who starts tonight. She succeeds syndicated heartthrob Adam Bomb, who recently moved up to afternoon drive. Ms. Z most recently did nights at Entercom Top 40 KDND (now 106.5 The End)/Sacramento. Prior to that, she did middays at Saga Rhythmic WNRG (Energy 106.9)/Milwaukee, nights on WKHQ/Traverse City, MI and she was a member of the digital media team with Ryan Seacrest Productions in Los Angeles.
