Seattle Vet John Fisher Joins KPNW
• Hubbard Radio’s recently launched Triple A 98.9 KPNW/Seattle announces the first addition to its on-air line-up, and it’s a good one: market mainstay John Fisher will take command of the midday show, starting April 10.
“We are pleased to welcome John Fisher, a familiar trusted voice in the PNW,” stated Scott Mahalick, OM of Hubbard Radio Seattle. “John’s unique perspective of storytelling makes your listening experience much more interesting.”
Fisher has been a Seattle radio fixture for nearly 30 years and is best known for his 20-year run in mornings at KMTT (103.7 The Mountain). He spent the past four years in mornings on Audacy Soft AC KSWD (94.1 The Sound)/Seattle until a round of corporate downsizing last August.
Fisher figured radio was in his rearview mirror — until KPNW launched on Valentine’s Day. “I wasn’t over radio,” he said. “I was just over safe, predictable, cookie-cutter radio. As soon as I heard KPNW, I knew I had to be a part of this adventure.” He added, “I know there’s a pent-up passion for this kind of music mix on local radio because people come up to me and tell me that all the time. I’m still kind of stunned that I get a chance once again to put it all together every workday for music lovers in the PNW. You can tell your friends it’s safe to listen to the radio again!”
