Taylor Takes Nights At KMVA/Phoenix
Riviera Broadcasting Hot AC KMVA (Hot 97.5/103.9)/Phoenix has filled its 7-midnight opening with talents of well-known industry pro Christy Taylor. Ms. Taylor has been doing weekends/fill-in at the station since December, shortly after she exited her MD/midday position across the street at Hubbard Radio Alternative KDKB (ALT AZ 93-3). Prior to landing in Phoenix in April 2015, Taylor served as interim New Media and Music Manager during the launch phase of GO Media Alternative KTWN (Go 96.3)/Minneapolis, but she’s probably best known for her lengthy stint at heritage Alternative XTRA (91X)/San Diego, where she rose from nights in 2008 to the PD chair in April of 2012. Earlier in her career Taylor was APD/MD/midday personality at WZMR (104.9 The Edge)/Albany, NY and juggled weekends at the late, great WXRK (92.3 K-Rock)/NYC.
In a staff memo formally announcing Taylor’s promotion, Mikey Fuentes, PD of KMVA/KZON and KKFR (Power 98.3 & 96.1), said, “To say Christy is a professional is a major understatement, and when you hear her on air you will understand.”
RAMP reached out to Taylor, who shared her thoughts about her new fulltime gig, commenting, “It’s amazing to have been given a opportunity to use my skills at a new format while learning from some of the best — Mikey Fuentes, Complex, and Marc Young. The whole team has been super supportive of me since the get go, they brought me on part-time in the beginning of December, so to have that grow into something more has been very exciting for me. I’m very grateful.”
