The Current Adds Two New Personalities

• Minnesota Public Radio Triple A KCMP (The Current)/Minneapolis-St. Paul announces the imminent addition of two new on-air voices — please welcome Maddie Schwappach and Zeke Salo. Schwappach (left) is the former music director at the University of Minnesota’s Radio K; she has also been a contributor to The Current and is a former intern at the station. Salo (right) most recently worked on-air and behind the scenes at Go Media Twin Cities’ Alternative KQGO-FM (Go 96.3) and Rhythmic KZGO-FM (Go 95.3), both of which were recently sold to EMF.

“The Current was one of the driving forces for me becoming immersed in the local music scene as a teenager growing up in Minnesota,” Schwappach said. “At a time when that community is more critical than ever, I’m excited and humbled at this opportunity to connect with other music fans over the air.” Salo remarked, “I’m excited to a part of the amazing team at The Current, and I’m looking forward to connecting with the great members and listeners of The Current.”

Schwappach and Salo’s on-air schedules will be announced in the coming weeks. “I’m thrilled to have these two passionate music fans join our team at The Current,” said David Safar, Managing Director of The Current. “We’ll be sharing more soon on when you can hear Maddie and Zeke on the air.”
