Yi Joins WGN’s Steve Cochran Show
• Chicago Sun-Times restaurant columnist Ji Suk Yi will join WGN Radio/Chicago as a contributor to The Steve Cochran Show, weekdays from 6-10am, beginning Monday, August 5. “Ji has become one of Chicago’s most compelling cultural storytellers,” said Todd Manley, WGN Station Manager and VP of Content. “Her fresh voice adds a whole new dimension to Steve’s show.”
Yi will continue to write The Grid: Neighborhood Eats, her weekly Chicago Sun-Times restaurant column and video that highlights new and old school favorites. This feature will also be a recurring segment on The Steve Cochran Show Wednesdays at 9:10am. “Ji’s work at the Sun-Times has been stellar, and we’re excited about collaborating with WGN and her on The Grid: Neighborhood Eats,” said Sun-Times Editor-in-Chief Chris Fusco.
Yi emigrated from South Korea as a child and earned her law degree at the University of North Carolina before moving to Chicago to pursue a career in journalism. Prior to joining the Sun-Times, Yi spent seven seasons as a co-host and contributor on WLS-TV‘s Windy City Live. Commenting on her new radio direction, Yi remarked, “I’m excited to take part and enhance a fun and clever daily conversation at a legacy station that jump-starts the day in a meaningful way for listeners… hearing directly from them and connecting is the best part!”
