Bleachers Rock The Roxy
The legendary Roxy on the Sunset Strip appeared to be dangerously close to having the local fire marshall come busting in last Thursday evening, as the place was humming in anticipation of Bleachers’ highly anticipated performance, ahead of the June 2 release of their second RCA album, Gone Now. The atmosphere inside was decidedly raucous as Jack Antonoff and the band hit the stage, opening with “Hate That You Know Me,” and powering through an energetic set that also included “Shadow,” “Wild Heart,” Everybody Lost Somebody,” “Wake Me,” “Reckless Love,” “Like A River Runs,” “All My Heroes,” “Rollercoaster” and “Mystery,” before ending on a high note with the 1-2 punch of Bleachers’ latest single, “Don’t Take The Money” and their 2014 sing-along hit, “I Wanna Get Better.”
An authentic L.A. rock show at the Roxy wouldn’t be complete without a pre-show fill-up next door at the iconic Rainbow Bar & Grille, which just celebrated its 45th anniversary serving up the best non-healthy rock and roll food and drink on the planet. We ate, we drank, we laughed, we ate some more, then posed for some action photos — (Pictured, l-r): Gene Sandbloom of the World Famous KROQ/Los Angeles; RAMP‘s Kevin Carter, Bleachers’ frontman (and a true gentleman) Jack Antonoff, RCA’s Danny Cooper, RAMP‘s Steve Resnik, RCA’s Artie Gentile and Katrina Dobieski of M:M Music. Down in front, that RCA’s Mike Boccuzzi.
Spotted inside blended in with the capacity crowd — fellow RCA star P!nk, who is reportedly collaborating with Bleachers’ Jack Antonoff on her next album, and actress Elizabeth Moss (ex-Mad Men), whose face just happened to adorn a giant Sunset Strip billboard across the street touting her starring role in Hulu’s new original series, The Handmaid’s Tale. Only in Hollywood… Huge thanks to our awesome RCA hosts for a wild and memorable evening!
