The Time Is Now For Craig David
• The Sunset Strip’s venerable Roxy was rocking on Wednesday night as Craig David set up shop — and proceeded to tear the joint up. Armed with (to borrow a lyric from Beck) “Two turntables and a microphone,” David took the stage, immediately cranked the energy level up to that mythical “11” — and for the next 90 minutes it never let up. The delirious wall-to-wall crowd eagerly matched his enthusiasm as David ripped through what he described as “a musical journey,” skillfully mixing old school tracks (like “Fill Me In”), samples (“Jump Around”), assorted snippets and cuts from his new RCA album, The Time Is Now, including his terrific new single, “I Know You” featuring Bastille.
Before the show, David graciously spent time chatting with a greenroom overly filled with well wishers.
