Executive Ugrades @ CMG Orlando
• Paul Briggs has been named VP/GM of Orlando TV for Cox Media Group. In his new role, Briggs (left) will provide strategic leadership and oversight for all station departments and functions, including news, sales, marketing, production, programming, community affairs and more for WFTV and WRDQ.
Briggs’ career includes sales and leadership roles in Charlotte, Memphis and Atlanta. Most recently, he served as VP of Content and Broadcast Operations for CMG Atlanta, overseeing the market’s TV, radio and newspaper brands. Briggs said, “I’m excited to be a part of Cox Media Group’s growth in the Orlando broadcast market and to lead an extraordinary team that is dedicated to providing outstanding news, information and entertainment to our viewers and tremendous results for our clients.”
• With the appointment of Briggs to his new TV role, CMG announced that Jason Meder (right) will continue to lead Orlando Radio as VP/GM. “Jason is an inspiring leader with a true passion for driving results and developing his people,” says Bill Hendrich, EVP of Radio for CMG. “Throughout his tenure, he’s increased ratings and revenue for our seven-station cluster, revamped operations and successfully created a work environment where our talented people can continue to grow.”
Meder joined the CMG team in 2002, serving as Director of Sales in Tampa before assuming the GM role in Orlando in 2018. “The CMG Orlando radio team is a talent-rich group that I’m fortunate to get to work with every single day,” Meder said. “I’m confident that our continued partnership with TV will yield even greater results as we forge ahead.”
