MIW Announces 2020 Mildred Carter Mentees
The Mentoring & Inspiring Women in Radio (MIW) Group, a volunteer organization dedicated to developing management and leadership skills for women in radio broadcasting, is pleased to introduce the MIW Group Mildred Carter Mentoring Program’s Class of 2020. Four deserving candidates from the radio industry — representing sales, marketing, programming and digital — are selected annually for the MIW Group’s heritage mentoring program.
Now, let’s meet the Class of 2020, listed in alphabetical order, (l-r): Nicki DellaPosta, General Sales Manager, Entercom Chicago; Jill Masek, Director of Sales, NRG Media, Lincoln, NE; Dana Schaeffer, Producer, ABC News Radio, New York; and Alyson Sprague, Sr. Director of Research & Analytics, iHeartMedia.
Now in its 19th year, this opportunity matches up-and-coming women in radio with female professionals who are recognized as leaders in all aspects of the industry. vCreative, the nation’s leading provider of media workflow solutions, is serving as the lead sponsor of this year’s program. vCreative Co-Founder & CEO Jinny Laderer said, “I believe that to whom much is given, much will be required. I have been blessed by those who invested their time, talents and resources into my life, and it is now my pleasure to invest in the lives of other women. The best part is watching them learn, grow and succeed!”
Lindsay Adams (formerly Cerajewski), Entercom VP of Nat’l Agency Partnerships and Chair of the 2020 MIW Group Mentoring Committee (and a 2006 graduate of this very program), said, “The quantity and quality of candidates desiring to develop their careers in radio is astounding. Given the challenges we have all faced this year, the program will prove to be even more valuable to our 2020 mentees who highly reflect the excellence we’re seeing in applications. Let the mentoring begin!”
• The MIW Group Mildred Carter Mentoring Program is named in the memory of Mildred Carter, who, along with her husband Andrew “Skip” Carter, founded the first African American-owned radio station in the U.S. in 1950 — KPRS/Kansas City. Mrs. Carter ran the Carter Broadcast Group for many years after the death of her husband, before turning over control of the company to her grandson Michael Carter in 1987.
