• Cox Media Group (CMG) has named David Abel as VP/Market Manager of its San Antonio radio group — Mainstream Rock 99.5 KISS, Oldies KONO-AM, Classic Hits KONO-FM, Classic Rock KTKX (106.7 The Eagle), Hot AC KSMG (Magic 105.3), Country KCYY (Y100) and Classic Country KKYX.

Abel is a 20-year radio pro who most recently served as VP of Radio with Griffin Communications in Tulsa, OK. Prior to that he was VP/GM for Apex Broadcasting’s radio group in Charleston/Hilton Head, SC, where he also helped launch new digital and IT companies, concurrently serving as COO.

The move to the Alamo City marks a return to the CMG family for Abel, who previously worked for the company for 11 years as a sales manager in Greenville, Orlando and Birmingham, AL. Abel began his radio career in sales and sales management in the New Orleans region. “I’m thrilled to announce David’s addition to our team in this key market,” said Rob Babin, CMG RVP. “David returns to CMG with a wealth of experience and leadership qualities that make him the ideal fit for this role, and I look forward to the positive impact he will have on our incredible CMG San Antonio team.”
