Shigley Named Chairman Of MAB Board
• Scott Shigley, GM of the Liggett Communications’ group in Port Huron, MI, was elected Chairman of the Michigan Association of Broadcasters (MAB) Board of Directors during the organization’s recent Annual Business Meeting. Shigley is the 77th chairman of the MAB, one of the largest and most successful state broadcast associations in the nation, representing nearly 300 radio and television stations and about 4,000 individual broadcasting industry employees across the state of Michigan.
Shigley (left) is a graduate of University of Michigan who started his radio sales career in 1993 at then Liggett-owned WFMK/Lansing, MI. He moved up to sales management in 1998 with Friends Communications in Adrian, MI, before joining the former Greater Media Detroit, managing sales for WMGC (then Magic 105.1) and Classic Rock WCSX.
After a stint in ad sales at Fox Sports Detroit, Shigley return to his adopted home town of Port Huron in 2011, and in 2014 was named GM of Liggett Communications, managing Country WSAQ, Top 40 WBTI, News-Talk-Sports WPHM, Alternative WHLS (Rock 105.5), and Triple A WHLX (92.7 The Hills).
Outgoing Chair Stephen A. Marks remains on the MAB Board of Directors Executive Committee as Immediate Past Chair. Also elected to the Executive Committee were: Vice Chair/Chair-Elect Mike Murri, VP/GM, WXYZ-TV & WMYD-TV/Detroit; Secretary/Treasurer Debbie Petersmark. VP/GM, WILX-TV/Lansing, MI and At-Large Director Mac Edwards, VP/Market Manager, Beasley Media Group Detroit.
