SummitMedia Ups Brannigan, Johnson
• It’s official — SummitMedia Wichita has promoted Beverlee Brannigan to corporate SVP of Programming. For the past six years Brannigan has juggled the dual role of VP of Programming and President/GM of the company’s Wichita market, but now, given her increased corporate programming responsibilities, it was concurrently announced that she would hand off her Wichita President/GM responsibilities to GSM Todd Johnson.
Brannigan (left) is a member of the Country Radio Hall of Fame, has coached CMA Broadcast Personalities of the Year, and has programmed Country KFDI to a CMA Station of the Year Award. Brannigan notably spent 12 years with Journal Broadcast Group, rising to VP of Programming and OM of the company’s Milwaukee group. In 2014, under new owner Scripps, Brannigan relocated to Wichita as VP/GM and VP of Radio Programming. In September 2018 SummitMedia promoted her to Market President/GM.
“I am honored to join Bill Tanner and John Olsen in the leadership of SummitMedia programming,” Brannigan stated. “We are all passionate about the need for radio to strongly connect to our audience. Finally, I am very excited to work with our talented team throughout the company.”
Johnson (right) brings with him over 34 years of sales, marketing and management experience in the Wichita market, starting with KICT in 1986. He has served as Wichita General Sales Manager for the last three years. Commenting on his elevation to President/GM, Johnson said, “I’m proud to be asked to lead our team who is incredibly passionate about entertaining our audience and about bringing the best ideas and solutions to our clients. SummitMedia will continue our commitment to the community as the premier source of entertainment, news, and severe weather coverage.”
SummitMedia Wichita includes Country KFDI, Active Rock KICT (T95), Classic Rock KFXJ (104.5 The Fox), Regional Mexican KYQQ (Radio Lobo 106.5) and Classic Country KFTI AM 1070.
