Woodward Hires Four, Promotes One
• There has been a sharp increase in personnel activity within the Woodward Radio Group (WRG) building in Appleton-Oshkosh, WI, as the company a) hires four new people, and b) initiates a proactive Business Manager succession plan.
Let’s start with the new faces — Jonathan Krause is named Brand Manager for News-Talk WHBY and Sports-Talk WSCO (The Score). Krause (left) joins Woodward after 18 years as Program and News Director for other stations in the Oshkosh market. Before that, he was News Director for a station group in Marinette/Menominee, MI for two years. “I look forward to continuing the traditions of WHBY and WSCO, providing high-quality information and entertainment for the Fox Valley,” said Krause, who has won numerous Wisconsin Broadcasters Association and Associated Press awards for News and Editorial Comment. He added, “And I hope to expand our community involvement throughout the region.”
Now, let’s meet the other three —Brian Butch joins the Woodward Radio Group as morning co-host of BJ and The Bear on The Score. Butch (second from left) played professional basketball for 10 years and is excited to join the WRG team as he and his wife return to his hometown of Appleton. He will also serve as a part-time sales exec for WHBY and WSCO. Jennifer Valeri (second from right) joins Woodward as a sales executive for Top 40 simulcast WKSZ & WKZY (95.9 & 92.9 Kiss FM). Valeri brings with her over 20 years of experience in sales and marketing. Jason Davis joins the Woodward Radio Group as a sales executive for Classic Rock WAPL and Active Rock WZOR (Razor 94.7 & 104.7). Davis is also a 12-year Oshkosh market vet.
And last, but certainly not least… former Woodward sales executive Jennifer Ball (right) transitions into her new roles as Business Manager in-training. She will eventually take over Business Manager duties when 40-year WRG veteran Sandi Schmidt retires.
