Peter Deibler, a.k.a. Kane Has Died
• We were saddened to learn that former longtime iHeartMedia morning personality Kane passed away last Friday, March 6, at the Shady Grove Adventist Medical Center in suburban Maryland after a long illness. Kane, whose given name was Peter Deibler, would have turned 44 years old on April 7.
The Kane Show aired for many years in multiple markets, syndicated by Premiere Networks and had moved from its original home at WFLZ/Tampa to Top 40 sister WIHT (Hot 99-5)/Washington in 2006. The show was most recently carried on WFLZ, WZFT (Z104.3)/Baltimore and WNRW (98.9 Kiss FM)/Louisville until April 2020, when Kane left the show, and his supporting cast — Intern John, Riley Couture and Rose, along with Producer Erick, continued on at WIHT and WZFT under the rebranded title, Your Morning Show.
Jeff Kapugi, Regional SVP of Programming for iHeartMedia’s DC Region, who worked with Kane for many years, issued a statement that reads, “We are deeply saddened to hear the news that Kane has passed away. Kane has been an important part of our iHeart family for many years, from his early days at WFLZ/Tampa to his network of stations and success at WIHT/Washington, DC and Club Kane. Please keep Kane’s family and his girls in your thoughts and prayers.” Deibler leaves behind two daughters, Sam and Sophie, and his father, Sam.
