Plante Grows In New York City
• In the wake of Don Imus‘ retirement this week, Cumulus News-Talk 77 WABC/New York has realigned its morning and midday line-up — as we recently reported, Bernie McGuirk and Sid Rosenberg are moving their Bernie & Sid show from middays to replace the legendary “I-Man,” effective Monday, April 2. Sliding into the prime 10am-noon slot to replace them on WABC is The Chris Plante Show, which is syndicated by Westwood One and originates live from the studios of WMAL/Washington, DC,
Plante is already well known to the New York audience, having been assigned to the Pentagon covering the U.S. military and intelligence community for CNN. Plante received the Edward R. Murrow Award from the Radio and Television News Directors’ Association (RTNDA) for his reporting from the Pentagon during the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001. Plante formerly hosted his own program on the American Life television network, and makes frequent appearances on cable news networks including the FOX News Channel, CNN and MSNBC.
Commenting on his expansion into Market No. 1, Plante said, “As any school child knows, as a broadcaster, if you could choose one radio station in one market in the English-speaking world, it would be WABC in New York. I’m honored to join the team.”
