Stew James Drives NASH Icon Home
• Cumulus Media and Westwood One announced that veteran Country personality Stew James has been hired to do afternoons on Classic Country WSM-FM (95.5 NASH Icon)/Nashville and the Westwood One NASH Icon Network. James was most recently the Technical Producer of what is now The Ty Bentli Show and a weekend talent across the hall on WKDF (NASH FM 103.3).
The move reunites James in the same building with his former longtime on-air partner Marty McFly, who currently does mornings on NASH Icon. McFly and James did mornings and nights together on multiple stations (including WKDF) and have been honored with CMA and ACM nominations. James went on to fly solo at WHUB in his hometown of Cookeville, TN, WSIX/Nashville and other stations. The duo came together again in 2011 on the syndicated show, The Live Ride. The new 95.5 NASH Icon weekday lineup now looks like this — 5:30-9am: Marty McFly; 9am-2pm: Lisa Manning; 2-7pm: Stew James; 7-midnight: Darlas Rai.
George King, VP of Programming, Westwood One, said, “We are thrilled to have Stew join the Westwood One NASH Icon Network. He’s a great talent, a true professional and just an awesome person. We’re looking forward to having him on the air across the country.” Charlie Cook, PD of 95.5 NASH Icon and VP of Programming Operations for Cumulus Nashville, commented “Stew has been a Nashville personality for years and we’re fortunate to have him join afternoons at 95.5 NASH Icon. He brings not only in-depth knowledge of the market but also a passion for the essential country music favorites that our loyal country fans crave.”
James said, “I’m extremely excited to return to the air and connect with country fans. It’s awesome to be part of the 95.5 NASH Icon family in Nashville and a part of the Westwood One NASH Icon Network. I look forward to working with my Nashville on-air colleagues Marty, Lisa and Darlas as well as Charlie Cook and George King.”
