iHeartMedia Top 40 WQEN (103.7 The Q)/Birmingham, AL was one of several fortunate stations to play host to Demi Lovato last week as the artist pulled off a cross-country promo blitz in support of her new Safehouse/Island single, “Sorry Not Sorry.”

Lovato showed up at The Q’s “Silent Disco” event at Iron City and surprised fans with a free performance. “The place went nuts!” said Q PD Dino Conard (back row, third from right, next to Demi), who corralled the Q Crew for a staff photo.


• New Generation Radio, Jason Kidd‘s brand and content developing company has added another affiliate for its Hot Adult Hits format, Smash Hits — Kiser Communications Classic Rock WHOD (Dixie 94-5)/Jackson, AL flushes that format an is now playing ’80s Til’ Now. Smash Hits focuses on the Gen-X audience by playing a mix of today’s music and hits from the ’80s and ’90s.

Across the hall, New Generation Radio also goes to work on Classic Country cousin WBMH, re-launching the station as “Bama 106” and initiating a simulcast on former Adult Standards sister WRJX-AM.
