WZPL Creates 88 Smiley Faces

The Smiley Morning Show on Entercom Top 40 WZPL/Indianapolis just completed its 20th annual “Make-A-Wish Request-a-thon” to benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation.” Every December, host Dave Smiley, co-hosts Nikki, Toni & Producer Will stay on the for 36 straight hours and temporarily flush the format as they gleefully play your odd, fascinating and/or downright bizarre requests in exchange for donations to the Make-A-Wish Foundation, granting the wishes of children throughout Indiana who are battling life-threatening illnesses.

OM/PD JR Ammons joyfully shared the 2016 results with RAMP, as he related, “The 20th Annual Make-A-Wish Request-a-thon was record-shattering! Last year, the Smiley Show raised just over $624,000. This year, that number went by the wayside at around the 33-hour mark… they spent the final few hours of this year’s event pushing the grand total to an amazing $700,628.31! That’s enough money to grant 88 wishes!”

RAMP caught up with morning host Dave Smiley as he was leaving the ZPL studios late Friday night. An exhausted-but-happy Smiley told us, “I’m tired. I have no voice left. I’m going home, doing a shot Fireball and going to bed.”
