Welcome To The Machine

• Entercom San Diego has formally flipped Top 40 KEGY (Energy 97.3) to 97.3 The Machine, “Talk That Rocks,” featuring your usual Sports-Talk-Classic Rock-Comedy format. And, as we recently reported, 97.3 The Machine is the new radio flagship of youuuuuuur San Diego Padres. “97.3 The Machine will offer San Diego listeners a one-of-a-kind station that combines all of the elements they have been craving: captivating talent, comedy, rock and sports,” said Bob Bolinger, SVP/Market Manager, Entercom San Diego. “We’re excited to fill this void in San Diego and will continue to add even more compelling content to the station’s lineup to serve both listeners and local partners.”

The new 97.3 The Machine welcomes market vet Dan Sileo to anchor middays. Sileo was most recently heard across the street on BCA Sports-Talk XEPRS-AM (The Mighty 1090). The syndicated The Men’s Room, beamed out of sister KISW/Seattle will drive you home from 2-6pm. In the evenings, 97.3 The Machine will air all 162 regular season and 12 spring training Padres games, featuring play-by-play announcers Ted Leitner and Jesse Agler. On evenings and weekends when the Padres aren’t playing, 97.3 The Machine will blast classic rock music, skillfully mixed with hilarious comedy.

On March 29, 97.3 The Machine will debut its new morning show, Kevin Klein Live, which used to be based at Alternative sister KITS (ALT 105.3)/San Francisco until January. Host Kevin Klein sports a radio resume that includes the late WXRK (92.3 K-Rock)/New York, MTV/VH1 Radio and SiriusXM, where he hosted the Playboy Morning Show. No word yet on the status of the Energy 97.3 airstaff.
