Always Trust A Show Over 30
• Loudspeaker — San Diego’s longest running local music specialty show is celebrating 30 years on Local Media San Diego Alternative XETRA (91X). Loudspeaker is dedicated to music and musicians from San Diego and airs Sunday nights from 7-10pm. Today at 10am, Councilman David Alvarez will present the Loudspeaker team with an official-looking proclamation declaring Tuesday, July 31, 2018 as “91X Loudspeaker Day” in the City of San Diego! “On behalf of the San Diego City Council, I am proud to recognize 91X Loudspeaker on their 30th Anniversary,” said Alvarez. “Loudspeaker has been instrumental in providing a platform for local musical talent.” The proclamation will be presented in the City Council’s chambers, and everyone is invited to attend! Special thanks to San Diego Mayor Kevin Faulconer‘s team.
Loudspeaker was created by Marco Collins in 1988 and has had numerous hosts over the years, most notably the guys who returned to the show in 2014 — (l-r): Lou Niles, Tim Pyles and Andrew Rowley. 91X will observe this special milestone day on the air by spinning songs by San Diego bands in regular rotation on Tuesday. A “91X Loudspeaker Day” party will be held tonight at the Casbah, with performances by the Low Volts, N-E-1, Rob Crow, Pall Jenkins, Chris Cote and Pony Death Ride, plus Scotty Pants all-local karaoke in the Razzmatazz Lounge.
