Johnson Named OM Of Cumulus Pensacola
• Glenn Johnson is making his triumphant return to the Pensacola, FL-Mobile, AL region as the newly named Operations Manager for Cumulus Media’s Pensacola group — Country WXBM (NASH FM 102.7), Classic Hits WJTQ (Jet 100.7), AC WMEZ (Soft Rock 94.1), Urban AC WRRX (Magic 106.1) and News-Talk WCOA-1370 AM.
As we initially reported back in April, Johnson announced his resignation as Executive Producer of the Nashville-based The Ty Bentli Show shortly after his wife Cherish resigned from her anchor position at Nashville ABC affiliate WKRN-TV to accept a new gig at WKRG-TV/Mobile, a move that puts them closer to family.
Pete DeSimone, Regional Vice President of Cumulus Media said, “This is a win-win — a homecoming for Glenn and an opportunity to retain a very talented broadcaster. We are extremely excited to have him leading the Pensacola programming team.”
Johnson, the artist formerly known as “QTip,” notably spent a decade in the Mobile market, co-hosting mornings on Cumulus Top 40 WABD, and before that, Dittman Broadcasting’s late, legendary WABB. He also worked at WYOK/Mobile from 2004-2006. He was hired by Cumulus Nashville in June 2015 as Exec. Producer of what was then America’s Morning Show with Blair Garner.
Johnson remarked, “I’m beyond excited! Great people already in place, there’s a beach and it’s the home of the Blue Angels! Thank you Jackie Rinker, Pete DeSimone, Doug Hamand and Mike McVay for the opportunity!”
