Condolences: KIRO-FM’s Dori Monson

KIRO NewsRadio/Seattle and Bonneville International Corporation (BIC), along with the immediate family of Dori Monson, are deeply saddened to announce his sudden passing on Saturday, Dec. 31, 2022, at a Seattle hospital.

Monson, who had been a fixture at Bonneville Seattle for more than 38 years and the host of the top-rated Dori Monson Show weekdays from noon-3pm had dealt with health issues over the past few years and had been hospitalized after suffering a cardiac event at home on Thursday, Dec. 29.

Monson’s radio career started in 1982 at the University of Washington, and included work at KING-TV and KING Radio before joining KIRO in the early ’90s. A man of deep faith and a fierce advocate for girls’ sports for more than 25 years, Dori coached Shorecrest High School to its first state girls basketball title in 2016.

Dori Monson was 61 years old and leaves behind a beloved wife and three adult children.
