Houston Pros In Motion
• iHeartMedia News-Talk KTRH AM 740/Houston announced a new four-year deal with Michael Berry to keep doing The Michael Berry Show weekdays from 8-11am and 5-7pm through 2023.
“I’m excited to extend our partnership with Michael because he’s one of the hardest working radio personalities in America and offers a unique brand of humor and information,” said Eddie Martiny, Region President for iHeartMedia Houston. “I know his listeners will ‘pop a top’ knowing Michael Berry will continue taking them to and from work!” Bryan Erickson, Director of AM Programming for iHeartMedia Houston, commented, “We’re thrilled to be able to continue our relationship with Michael. In a format filled with imitators, Michael is a true original.”
Berry began his radio career in 2005 at KPRC AM 950, and today The Michael Berry Show is heard on nearly two dozen additional iHeartMedia stations in New York, Los Angeles, Atlanta, Portland, Nashville, New Orleans, Dallas, Austin, San Antonio, Birmingham and Baton Rouge. Berry remarked, “I love what I do, I love who I do it with and I love that I do it here with iHeartMedia. Talk Radio is about engaging people with ideas, and some will agree, some won’t, but it’s entertaining and rewarding to engage. That’s what I get to do every single day and now I can do it for years more to come.”
• Across the street on Cox Media Group Classic Rock KGLK (The Eagle 106.9 & 107.5)/Houston, Kelly Ryan has been upgraded to full-time co-host for the Dean & Rog Morning Show.
“Kelly has been a longtime member of The Eagle family, so I’m happy she’s found a permanent spot on the Dean & Rog Morning Show,” says Johnny Chiang, Director of Operations for CMG Houston. “Her enthusiasm, sense of humor, and ability to ‘put up with the boys’ made her the perfect choice for the role.”
Ryan was most recently the traffic reporter for CMG Houston and has also served in other on-air and production roles since she joined the company in 2014. Prior to CMG, Ryan was an on-air talent for crosstown KKRW (93.7 The Arrow), which was The Eagle’s only direct format competitor until it flipped formats at the end of 2013. Her 28+ years of experience in radio and natural chemistry with Dean & Rog make her a strong fit for her new role.
Ryan said, “I listened to Dean & Rog when they were in Denver. Now I have the privilege to be a part of the show. It’s truly a dream come true — and they’re paying me!“
