Bronson New Morning Host @ WROR/Boston
• UPDATED: After nearly four decades of service to a generation of Boston radio listeners, the Loren & Wally era has officially come to an end, as Loren Owens did his final show Friday on Beasley Classic Hits WROR/Boston. Owens’ last show featured an emotional guest appearance from his former longtime co-host Wally Brine, who retired two and a half years ago. As noted in a fascinating Facebook post by Boston radio icon Don Kelley, who presided over Loren & Wally’s induction into the Mass Broadcasters Hall of Fame, “The Loren and Wally show ran for 38 years on 105.7 — one frequency, but four sets of call letters (WVBF, WCLB, WKLB, WROR), four ownerships (Fairbanks, Evergreen, Greater Media, Beasley) and four formats (AC, Country, Oldies, Classic Hits).” Pictured, (l-r): co-host Lauren Beckham-Falcone (LBF), Loren Owens, Wally Brine and co-host Brian Bell.
Shortly thereafter, Beasley announced its new WROR morning anchor — Bob Bronson (left),who spent the better part of the past decade hosting the morning show on iHeartMedia AC WLTW (106.7 Lite FM)/New York. Bronson will make his WROR debut on Monday, July 1, plugging in across from existing co-hosts Lauren Beckham-Falcone (LBF) and Brian Bell to form the new ROR Morning Show with Bob Bronson, LBF and Brian.
“I’ve known Bob for over a decade and am excited for the ROR audience to get to know him as well,” said Cadillac Jack, Director of Programming for Beasley Media Group Boston. “He’s a battle-tested, hard-working winner who is a relatable storyteller and all-around wonderful person to be leading our talented morning team!” Mary Menna, VP/Market Manager of Beasley Media Group Boston, commented, “Bob is a world-class talent, and we are so fortunate to be able to bring him home to Boston, and to the WROR listeners.”
Bronson began his radio career in his hometown of Portland, ME and has previously worked in Boston, New Hampshire, Louisville and Raleigh. “I want to thank the Beasley management team, including Mary Menna, Cadillac Jack and Buzz Knight for giving me the chance to wake up the greatest city in the world,” said Bronson. “I can’t wait to join the amazing team at WROR!”
