‘E-Man’ Now ‘The-Man’ @ Meruelo Media
• Meruelo Media announced that Emmanuel “E-Man” Coquia has been promoted to corporate Director of Programming and Content. Under this new title, E-Man will head the programming and music content for Rhythmic KPWR (Power 106) and Classic Hip Hop 93.5 KDAY, while also overseeing the initial stages of development of the company’s recently launched Latin Rhythmic KLLI (Cali 93.9)/Los Angeles.
Since taking over as interim PD of Power 106 and 93.5 KDAY on February 1, E-Man has been a driver of change and new ideas — he reimagined Power 106’s annual Hip Hop music festival Powerhouse this past May, transforming it into the Standing-Room-Only “Lift Off” new music fest. E-man personally recruited Nick Cannon as the new host of the Power 106 morning show, and he also overhauled the 93.5 KDAY Morning Show with Romeo, adding Cece to the mix; today, he’s an instrumental player in the developmental stage of the all-new Cali 93.9.
E-Man will continue to report to Meruelo Media President & COO, Otto Padron, who exclaimed, “E-Man is Our-man! After an exhaustive nationwide search that attracted some of the most talented PDs in America, the choice was clear — E-Man had a sensible plan and a vision that aligned perfectly with our goals to disrupt the industry with new hyper local L.A. content. Above all, he had boundless confidence strengthened by a time-built arsenal of industry respect from the labels, artist, management, colleagues and fellow Meruelo Media team members!”
E-Man commented, “I’m truly excited to continue to lead the incredible winning teams at our two iconic Hip Hop radio stations in Los Angeles: Power 106 & 93.5 KDAY. I’m also enjoying every minute assembling and developing the new Cali 93.9 team. I would like to thank Alex Meruelo, Luis Armona, Otto Padron, Tommy Trujillo and the entire Meruelo Media family for this incredible opportunity. My family and I are very blessed and humbled. To be a part of three major radio stations in Los Angeles that play Hip-Hop — Current, Classic, & Latin Hip-Hop/Reggaeton is a very dope feeling, especially as a fan of these music genres.”
