Resistance To Gallagher Is Futile
• Pat Gallagher is making his triumphant homecoming to Madison, WI, as he has been hired by Mid-West Family Broadcasting in a unique, multi-pronged role: 1) He will do mornings on Alternative WRIS (106.7 The Resistance); 2) assist in programming heritage AC WMGN (Magic 98) and 3) he will host a feature on Sports-Talk sister WOZN (96.7/1670 The Zone) named The Active Zone, which will focus on the activities Gallagher loves — he’s a three-time “Ironman Wisconsin” finisher, after all.
Gallagher most recently did mornings on Saga Triple A WCNR (106.1 The Corner)/Charlottesville, VA, but he notably spent 21 years as PD/midday talent across the street at Entercom Triple A WMMM (105.5 Triple M) until budget cuts lead to his departure in Sept. 2013. After sitting out a non-compete, Gallagher joined Mid-West Family to launch an Active Sports show on The Zone and do part-time on Magic 98. That stint lasted until December 2015, when he left to join WCNR… and now he’s back.
RAMP caught up with Randy Hawke, VP of Programming for Mid-West Family, who patiently explained how Gallagher’s complex deal came together, as he said, “I had posted for a Content Manager. Pat applied. I’ve known Pat since the mid-’90s, and the more I thought about what we can do together, the more the position morphed into a job that can only be done by Pat G. of Madison, Wisconsin. So it evolved into this hybrid position that is quite tailored to Pat’s experience, interests and skill set. Thankfully he accepted, or I would be experimenting with cloning.”
Gallagher exclaimed, “I’m thrilled to be back in my hometown, doing what I love best — playing great music at a great radio station. I’m proud to be a part of Mid-West Family and grateful for the opportunity to be a part of such a fantastic company. I’m looking forward to doing amazing things with the team here at The Resistance. There’s a lot more to come!”
Gallagher will re-introduce himself to his many fans this weekend at the Taste of Madison as he hosts The Resistance Stage, featuring headliner Barns Courtney with Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, Paper Jackets and more. Gallagher can be congratulated at pat.gallagher@mwfbg.com.
