Republic Ups Swirsky To SVP/A&R
• Republic Records has promoted Julian Swirsky to Senior Vice President of A&R — as announced today by EVP Rob Stevenson. Swirsky has served as A&R Manager since 2018, co-signing Alternative pop phenomenon Conan Gray alongside EVP Ben Adelson. He also signed 2019’s biggest breakthrough rap star, the multiplatinum chart-topping Lil Tecca. In addition to working on 2020 albums from Gray and Tecca, Swirsky will focus on welcoming more new acts.
Commenting on Swirsky’s swell promotion, Stevenson said, “Julian’s knowledge of the evolving landscape, his drive to define what’s ‘next,’ and refusal to take no for an answer provided the engine for signing two of popular culture’s most exciting new talents. Relying on these instincts and an endless passion for the artists who he supports, he is fast becoming one of the industry’s most forward-thinking A&R executives.” Swirsky remarked, “I have tremendous respect for Monteand Avery Lipman, Rob, Ben, and the entire team. They have consistently encouraged me to take risks, be creative, and break the mold in any way possible. Republic is the archetype of what a modern record label should be. There’s no better place to work, and I’m thrilled for what the future holds.”
Los Angeles native Swirsky joined Republic Records as an A&R consultant during his junior year at NYU. Upon graduation in 2018, he accepted the position of A&R Manager. He’s based at the label’s New York City headquarters.
