Mike Arlo Could Use Your Prayers

• We are sending our most sincere thoughts and prayers to Hampton Roads radio icon Mike Arlo, 76, a half-century veteran of Saga Communications Norfolk and beloved midday talent on Classic Rock WAFX (106.9 The Fox), who has entered hospice care. No further details are available yet.

This brief message on The Fox homepage and socials states, “Mike Arlo has been recovering at home from a medical issue. Unfortunately, he has been put into hospice. We appreciate your thoughts and prayers for him and his family.”

In February 2025 Arlo celebrated his 50th anniversary with Saga. He did his first airshift on Active Rock WNOR (FM99) in 1975, and in 1981 took over the midday shift. In February 1996, Arlo unplugged from FM99 and rolled his chair across the hall to Classic Rock sister 106.9 The Fox, bringing his signature “Arlo’s Electric Lunch” — and legions of loyal fans — along with him.

Last June Arlo was the recipient of the inaugural Career Achievement Award during the Virginia Association of Broadcasters (VAB) 88th Annual Summer Convention, celebrating his five decades of broadcast excellence.
