The Current Seeks A New MD
• Minnesota Public Radio’s influential Triple A outlet KCMP (The Current)/Minneapolis is actively scouring the highways and back roads of America to procure and hire a talented new Music Director.
The Current’s MD position was formerly held by 14-year Current veteran David Safar, who was promoted to Head of Music, Artist and Label Relations in January 2019 and to Managing Director last August.
As the Current’s new Music Director, [your face here] will be responsible for crafting the sound of the music on The Current. You will select music for airplay, manage incoming music submissions, our music library, and maintain our contacts with record labels and the music industry. You will also guide the music identity of The Current’s digital content, events and promotions. As the Music Director, you also serve as a valuable member of the Current’s leadership team, helping align resources and personnel with American Public Media Group’s strategic directives and goals.
