J Cruz Leaves Power For REAL

• As if there wasn’t already enough drama in the radio hallways of Los Angeles, iHeartMedia Urban KRRL (REAL 92.3)/Los Angeles announced it has acquired The Cruz Show for afternoon drive, starting April 18.

The Cruz Show, anchored by J Cruz (left), crosses the street from morning drive at Meruelo Media Rhythmic rival KPWR (Power 106). He will be joined by Executive Producer Jeff Garcia, DJ Lechero and DJ Lezlee. Interestingly, the move reunites Cruz with his Power 106 morning predecessor, REAL 92.3 morning personality Big Boy, pictured here on the right.

“iHeartMedia is all about attracting the very best on-air talent and I’m excited to add J Cruz to the growing list of super talents in our thriving Los Angeles market,” said Doc Wynter, EVP of Urban/Hip Hop Programming Strategy for iHeartMedia’s National Programming Group and PD of REAL 92.3. “Big Boy in the mornings and J Cruz in the afternoons — I get chills just saying it!”

Cruz said, “I couldn’t be more excited and grateful to join such a great group of legendary radio artists here at iHeartMedia’s REAL 92.3. Hosting L.A.’s first afternoon hip-hop ‘morning show’ with my incredible team and merging with radio’s biggest family is a game-changer. A special thanks to iHeartMedia for providing me with a fresh new platform to connect with the Los Angeles Urban community.” The Cruz Show is represented by MixAgent, headed by radio veteran DJ Lynnwood.
