iHeart NH Rallies Huge For NH Food Bank
• iHeartMedia New Hampshire and WMUR-TV/Manchester joined forces and raised over $760,000 — with more coming in — for the New Hampshire Food Bank following a one-hour broadcast last Friday called “Project Community: New Hampshire Together From Home.” This total does not include a pledge by the Lois Roy Dickerman Fund to match up to an additional $100,000, thus, making the potential total approach $1 million!
The broadcast aired from 7-8pm on Friday, April 17 on WMUR and simulcast on iHeartMedia Rock duo WHEB/Portsmouth and WGIR (Rock 101)/Manchester, featuring a bunch of musicians and celebrities from the Granite State, performing from their homes and soliciting donations to the NH Food Bank. The event was hosted by Greg Kretschmar, host of Greg & The Morning Buzz and WMUR-TV anchors Erin Fehlau and Sean McDonald — all broadcasting LIVE from their homes. “The results took all of our breath away, to be honest,” said Kretschmar, adding, “It was such an amazing outpouring of support that’s just another example of how New Hampshire folks help their neighbors. It’s such an amazing place filled with amazing people and we couldn’t be more grateful for that.”
Joe Graham, President of iHeartMedia NH, remarked, “With so many businesses either shut down temporarily or operating under quarantine conditions — and many residents out of work or on reduced hours, it’s incredible that so many people contributed to help their fellow New Hampshire residents.” Tim Moore, VP of Programming for iHeartMedia NH said, “The idea was to do on a local level the type of fundraiser that iHeartMedia has been doing nationally. In just over a week, this broadcast went from idea to reality. We are so grateful to our TV partner WMUR for helping us to assemble an amazing lineup of New Hampshire talent to showcase for this great cause!”
At press time, contributions were still coming in — and the New Hampshire Food Bank is continuing to accept donations via nhfoodbank.org/projectcommunity or by texting “NHunity” to 76278.
