Condolences: Grisel Barajas
• We were deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Grisel Barajas, PD/afternoon personality at Radio One Regional Mexican La Grande 105.1 (WNOW-HD3 & W286CM)/Indianapolis, who tragically died in a motorcycle accident on Sunday. This promising young radio professional would have turned 32 years old on July 12.
In a statement, Deon Levingston, Radio One Regional Vice President said, “The sudden passing of Grisel Barajas has deeply shocked and saddened us. As the Program Director for LaGrande 105.1, Grisel was a valued colleague and trusted friend. She was taken away from us too soon and will be missed by all of us at Radio One Indianapolis and the entire Urban One family. We extend our heartfelt condolences to Grisel’s family and friends.”
Ms. Barajas previously served as a Content Creator/air talent for sister station WDNI-CD (Telemundo 19) and she did middays on Top 40 sister KROI (RadioNow 92.1)/Houston. In 2018, the year she joined Radio One, the Mentoring & Inspiring Women in Radio (MIW) Group and Nielsen Music named Barajas as the MIW Group-Nielsen Music Programming Mentee.
VP of Programming Colby Tyner posted a tribute to Grisel on his Instagram page, sharing some of their conversations about Immigration.
Barajas’ friends have established a GoFundMe page to help her family with funeral costs and future expenses.
