Gene Knight: Free Agent

• RAMP has confirmed that San Diego radio mainstay Gene Knight is now available, as his dual position as MD of Entercom AC KYXY & Classic Hits KXSN (Sunny 98.1) — and afternoons on KYXY — has been eliminated. This had marked Knight’s second tour of duty at KYXY — from 1999-2011, under previous owner CBS Radio Knight primarily did afternoons, and briefly, near the end of his run — nights.

Knight’s four-decade radio reign in America’s Finest City also includes an earlier stint as MD at Local Media San Diego Rhythmic Oldies XHRM (Magic 92.5), a decade as MD/midday personality at the late KFMB-FM (B100) and MD of the former KJQY (K-Joy). He also plugged in at the late, legendary KCBQ back in the day.
