Condolences: Bryan Allen
• Our industry has lost yet another talented pro — we have learned that longtime Phoenix air personality Bryan Allen, best known for his successful 14-year run in afternoons on Hot AC KMXP (Mix 96.9), has died after several tough weeks of battling COVID-19-related complications. Allen’s wife Joye posted the sad news on his Facebook page.
Allen studied Radio/TV/Journalism at The Ohio State University in the mid-’80s and got his first major radio break as Research Director and on-air at WNCI/Columbus. In 1989 he relocated to Phoenix and spent the next decade working at KZZP and KVRY (Variety 104.7) in various on-air capacities. In his most high profile gig, Allen reigned as the highly rated afternoon host from May 1999 through August 2013 at KMXP. For the past six years Allen was doing weekends/swing at Country KMLE.
