Why Is Scott Tavlin Smiling?
• And here’s your answer — Cox Media Group has promoted Scott “Scotty the Body” Tavlin to full-time morning show producer and midday personality on Top 40 WPOI (Hot 101.5)/Tampa. He will continue to contribute to Miguel & Holly Mornings from 6-10am, and then stick around and fly solo from 10am-3pm. And there’s more — in his not-so-spare time, Tavlin will also handle nights on Country cousin WWKA (K92.3)/Orlando. Tavlin replaces long time Hot 101.5 personality Chase Pulido, who was recently promoted to a National Digital Content role within CMG.
Tavlin started his radio career as a street teamer at CMG Tampa in April 2018, where his energetic, outgoing personality and leadership qualities quickly earned the attention of morning duo Miguel Fuller & Holly O’Connor, who asked him to sit in and learn the “biz” in June 2018. He worked his way up to weekend/fill-in talent and eventually added air shifts on CMG Orlando’s WPYO (Power 95.3) and K92.3.
“Scott is a star and is such a natural at rocking a crowd and creating relatable connections with our staff, audience, partners and clients,” said Will Calder, Director of Branding and Programming. “Scott’s story is the perfect example of how talent, hustle and a great attitude can turn dreams into reality!” A grateful Tavlin commented, “It means the world to think back to being an inexperienced college kid telling everyone in my first interview my grand dreams of being in radio and now living those dreams. Thanks so much to Will Calder, Miguel Fuller, Holly O’Connor, Nate Reed, Steve Stewart, Keith Lawless, Steve Smith, Tim Clarke and everyone who has ever believed in me for presenting me with such an amazing opportunity.”
